there’s a big difference between “food waste” as in “farmers destroy tons of food to avoid exceeding quotas” or “supermarkets throw away this much edible food because it doesn’t sell”

and “food waste” as in “it is not actually within the capacity of humans to perfectly predict and track household food consumption, so a certain amount of food per household inevitably goes bad and has to be thrown out every year”

the idea that food waste is the product of thoughtless consumers rather than corporate greed is really insidious

“We are not robots. We are human beings. We cannot come into work after only four hours of sleep and be expected to be fully energized and ready to work. That’s impossible,” said Long. “I feel like all the company cares about is getting their products out to the customers as quickly humanly as possible, no matter what that means for us workers in the end.”

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME

fact checked and…apparently this is completely correct.

And people wonder and complain when I am “down” on sports.

This is gross.

Football coach is considered a competitive position- for the schools. Coaches are allowed to demand competitive pay upwards of millions or refuse to work, and schools- foolishly- are willing to pay it. The thought I believe is that the football program will bring in more money for the school, and it often does, but this display is still atrocious and it shows the desperation for profit and discount for students better than most anything else.

This is absolutely and perfectly true. I mean it. I deal with several tenured and untenured professors, and several graduate students. They make less than 100k a year, and that’s the highest. The football coach at one of the universities I know of is over 1 million.

This is why we don’t have flying cars and new cancer drugs

When it comes to public universities, the football coach is often the highest paid public official in the entire state. By A LOT. All that taxpayer money….

what the FUCK america explain……
